WEEK ONE: TOES IN THE WATER
GAME 01: BLUE (1-0) vs. GOLD (0-1)
Final Score: 101 to 85/80 for BLUE This was a game of runs, and a race to see which team could have the biggest and the last run. Gold made small runs while Blue made big runs and managed to build up a lead that they wouldn't relinquish for the remainder of the game. In the decisive moments Blue reigned down a flurry of three to put the game out of reach. While Blue captured the victory, both teams looks formidable in this opener for the 2014 season. MEN OF THE MATCH: D.Lowe, Blue & K.Mader, Gold GAME 02: BROWN (0-1) vs. ORANGE (1-0)
Final Score: 93 to 61 for ORANGE Both teams started strong in the second game of the season but it was Orange that found its flow, and the bottom of the net with regularity. Brown dug in hard but it wasn't enough as the ball didn't fall enough for them and Orange easily coasted to their first victory of the season. Brown will muddy the waters this season with their gritty and tough play and will look to bounce back next week. MEN OF THE MATCH: M.Trethewey, Brown & C.Carver, Orange GAME 03: PINK (1-0) vs. RED (0-1) Final Score: 57/53 to 46 for PINK This game was the slugfest of the evening as from the start both teams looked to put their mark on the season. Pink jumped out to an early lead behind strong play from Caleb Leary and Mustapha Maynard and then clung to the lead as Red stormed back in the second half. Both teams looked solid, and will be forces to be reckoned with throughout the remainder of the season. Pink got the win and Red will look for vengeance next week. MEN OF THE MATCH: M.Maynard, Pink & A.Slauenwhite, Red |
WEEK TWO: WORKING OUT THE KINKS
GAME 01: BROWN (0-2) vs. GOLD (1-1)
Final Score: 77/70 to 60 for GOLD Both teams were looking to bounce back and get their first wins of the season. Rhythm was found early by both teams and going into the halftime break the game was in the balance but the second half saw Gold make a run that Brown was never able to match. Andrew Johnson, the mid-range machine, helped Gold find their pace as they pulled away from Brown, garnering their first win and leaving Brown waiting for their first win of the season. MEN OF THE MATCH: M.Carver, Brown & A.Johnson, Gold GAME 02: BLUE (2-0) vs. RED (0-2)
Final Score: 102 to 82/75 for BLUE Blue is proving to be the early front runner for the championship as once again they looked unstoppable on the offensive end of the court. The head-to-head matchup of the Zinck brothers was one to watch as younger brother Kyle (33) out dueled older brother Mike (15). Red tried to slow down the Blue machine but it didn't happen on this night as once again Blue proved to be an unstoppable force. Red will have to wait one more week for their first win of the season. MEN OF THE MATCH: K.Zinck, Blue & D.Looke, Red GAME 03: ORANGE (2-0) vs. PINK (1-1) Final Score: 98 to 65 for ORANGE Pink was playing shorthanded in this game while facing the full weight of the Orange team. Orange opened a comfortable lead behind a strong game from Channing Carver (36) and while Caleb Leary (22) and Devan Dexter (15) both had strong games for Pink it wasn't enough to slow down the balanced attack from the Orange team who had everyone running together on this night.
