WEEK ONE: THE MADNESS BEGINS
GAME 01: YELLOW (1-0) vs. BLUE (0-1)
Final Score: 75/68 to 54 for YELLOW Opening night and Yellow was already missing three players, meaning that Blue was ready to pounce on the undermanned team. Blue was bombing from distance but the shots weren't falling, hitting only eight, which wasn't enough to stop the Yellow team. They turned those long rebounds into countless run out points. Colin Silver (20pts) led the Blue offensive attack while Yellow was led by Whitman Hyson (18pts), one of four players to crack double figures for Yellow, who coasted to the easy week one victory. MEN OF THE MATCH: C.Silver, Blue & W.Hyson, Yellow GAME 02: ORANGE (1-0) vs. RED (0-1)
Final Score: 68 to 57/55 for ORANGE Red was missing their big guns in this week one match up while Orange was featuring four players making their league debut. This game was a back and forth battle all evening, with the teams exchanging the lead countless times. Red held the lead going into the final shift but it was here that Matt Statton (26pts) took charge of the game and helped Orange pull away from the Tyler Dylan (15pts) led Red team. Orange escaped with the hard fought victory and Red will look to bounce back next week. MEN OF THE MATCH: M.Statton, Orange & T.Dylan, Red GAME 03: PURPLE (1-0) vs. GREEN (0-1) Final Score: 80/79 to 59/54 for PURPLE The final game of the night saw the rim shutdown for the Green the team while seemingly expand for the Purple team. Purple quickly built up a lead that they would never relinquish for the remainder of the evening. Purple had three people hit double figures, led by their man in the middle Josh Chaytor (25pts) while Green countered with wily veteran Bobby Lowe (12pts). Purple cruised to the victory with their strong opening foray into the season while Green had great shots and will be a force when the start falling. MEN OF THE MATCH: B.Lowe, Green & C.Carver, Purple |
WEEK TWO: STILL FIGURING IT OUT
GAME 01: BLUE (0-2) vs. PURPLE (2-0)
Final Score: 71/68 to 65 for PURPLE Blue started this game out hot, pressuring the ball and hitting everything they shot. Purple had the opposite start and struggled to find their footing. Little by little Purple clawed their way back into the game by meeting the Blue pressure with their own. Suddenly the basket got smaller for the Blue team and at that moment Purple snatched its opportunity to take the lead. Led by Channing Carver (28) they stormed back and managed to overtake the Blue team who were led by solid play from Steven Zwicker (12). Purple hit their free-throws down the stretch and gathered their second win of the season. MEN OF THE MATCH: S.Zwicker, Blue & C.Carver, Purple GAME 02: RED (1-1) vs. GREEN (0-2)
Final Score: 93/87 to 65 for RED Justin Massey (34pts) made his debut and did not disappoint as Red looked to bounce back from a tough loss in the opening week. Green struggled against the tough pressure defence applied by the Red team and the close halftime lead held by Red quickly expanded to a massive second half lead that Green could not overcome. Near the end Green showed dome promise with some pressure and turnovers. Lucas Lavender (20) and Cameron Cunningham (11) had strong games for Green while Chad Garber (14) and Jarrod Fancy (12) countered with strong games for Red in the win. MEN OF THE MATCH: L.Lavender, Green & J.Massey, Red GAME 03: YELLOW (1-1) vs. ORANGE (2-0) Final Score: 68 to 67 for ORANGE The tightest game of the week was the last game of the week as these two teams tried to remain undefeated. Not once was this game more than four points apart as both teams met offence for offence, defence for defence. Tied going into the final shift, Matt Statton (24) and Bailey Silver (11) carried the load and helped overcome strong games from Damon Wamboldt (18) and Austin Smith (21). Yellow had their chances at the free throw line as the game drew to the close but a few unlucky bounces for them and some good ones for Orange allowed Orange to escape with the narrow victory. MEN OF THE MATCH: E.Bond, Orange & A.Smith, Yellow |
WEEK THREE: STARTING TO FIND THE WAY
GAME 01: ORANGE (3-0) vs. GREEN (3-0)
Final Score: 72/71 to 71 for ORANGE Green was missing two players but found their footing in playing their best game of the season. Both teams played fiercely for the entire game, and neither team managed to separate themselves from the other. Lucas Lavender (21), Kyle Lowe (14) and Cameron Cunningham (14) paced the Green long distance attack while Orange countered with balanced games from Michael O'Hearon (17), Matt Statton (13) and Ashton Boutcher (12). After the points were settled Green lost the game but stole a point from Orange who managed to maintain their perfect record. MEN OF THE MATCH: K.Lowe, Green & M.O'Hearon, Orange GAME 02: PURPLE (3-0) vs. YELLOW (1-2)
Final Score: 91 to 53/49 for PURPLE This game was a tale of two halves. The first half saw Yellow match Purple shot for shot. The second half saw the emergence of the Purple People Eaters as they devoured everything that Yellow threw at them. Four players on the Purple team hit double figures including suave veteran, Wayne Pardy (18) and young rookie, Evan Gibson (18). Austin Smith (13) and Damon Wamboldt (11) were the counter balance for Yellow but it wasn't enough for them to keep the game close, and the Purple team remained undefeated for another week. MEN OF THE MATCH: E.Gibson, Purple & D.Wamboldt, Yellow GAME 03: RED (2-1) vs. BLUE (0-3) Final Score: 80/74 to 65 for RED This game featured two of the games top sharpshooters lock horns. Blue was looking for their first win while Red was looking for their second win of the season. The first half was close as the teams matched intensity. The second half saw the explosion of Justin Massey (31) and the inner dominance of Jeremy Hirtle (10). Blue tried to claw their way back behind Tanner Hogue (20) and Colin Silver (15) but Red was too much for Blue on this night as they left Blue looking for their first win while Red tried to keep pace with the league leaders. MEN OF THE MATCH: T.Hogue, Blue & J.Hirtle, Red |
WEEK FOUR: AND THEN THERE WAS ONE ...
GAME 01: RED (3-1) vs. YELLOW (3-1)
Final Score: 76/75 to 66 for RED After a strong opening week performance, Yellow was looking to pick up their second win of the season while Red after a week one loss was looking to win their third straight game. The first half saw both teams exchange baskets, with the game remaining close, but the second half saw Red tighten its defence and build up the lead behind the one-two punch of Justin Massey (33) and Jeremy Hirtle (16) while Whitman Hyson (15) and Shane Hirtle (10) had solid games for Yellow. Red won the game by nine points while Yellow showed strong promise for the remainder of the season. MEN OF THE MATCH: J.Massey, Red & W.Hyson, Yellow GAME 02: BLUE (1-3) vs. GREEN (0-4)
Final Score: 72 to 60 for BLUE Both teams were looking for their first win of the season. Blue brought a full team while Green seemed to have lost its team along the way. Both teams had the long distance stroke going early, hitting a combined 18 three-pointers. In the end Green felt the loss of their missing players with Blue being led by Colin Silver (20) and Tanner Hogue (12) outpacing Green led by Caleb Barry (22) and Kyle Lowe (22), Blue managed to get their first victory of the season. Green will have to wait another week for their first win while Blue feels a little better now that they have the first win under their belt. MEN OF THE MATCH: M.Boland, Blue & K.Lowe, Green GAME 03: ORANGE (4-0) vs. PURPLE (3-1) Final Score: 72 to 68 for ORANGE Two undefeated teams came together to see who would be left standing. Purple had been flowing all season while Orange was scraping by with gritty defence. Purple saw every player hit the score sheet led by Tyler Smith (12) and Channing Carver (11) while Orange featured their own balanced attack, highlighted by Matthew Statton (19) and Michael O'Hearon (18). Purple's offence struggled against the staunch defence of Orange. In the end Orange provided a birthday present for Michael O'Hearon as they kept their undefeated season alive for another week. MEN OF THE MATCH: M.Statton, Orange & T.Smith Purple |
WEEK FIVE: HELLO, ANYBODY OUT THERE?
GAME 01: RED (4-1) vs. PURPLE (3-2)
Final Score: 98 to 75/68 for RED Basketball is meant to be a team game and in this game that was missing. Purple was missing half its team and featured four substitute players while Red featured a one-man wrecking crew that forgot to pass the ball. Purple played hard but without a full team it was hard for the Josh Chaytor (26) and Evan Gibson (14) led team to slow down the toughest team in the league, especially when Justin Massey (49) decided to just play his own game. Chad Garber (22) chipped in on the other line as Red maintained its dominance over the past four games while Purple faltered to its second straight loss. MEN OF THE MATCH: E.Gibson, Purple & C.Garber, Red GAME 02: ORANGE (5-0) vs. BLUE (1-4)
Final Score: 72 to 68 for ORANGE With its undefeated season on the line Orange was missing its top scorer but were buoyed by Blue missing two of their top players. Both teams played good hard team basketball and while both made runs at the lead it was the consistent offensive pressure by Orange that kept them holding on to the lead. Blue saw breakout performances from Nick Chaytor (21) and Brandon Cunningham (20) while Elijah Bond (23) and Michael O'Hearon (13) spearheaded the Orange attack. In the end Orange scrapped by with another nail-biting victory, maintaining their tenuous hold on top spot in the league. MEN OF THE MATCH: B.Cunningham, Blue & E.Bond, Orange GAME 03: GREEN (1-4) vs. YELLOW (1-4) Final Score: 78/76 to 64 for Green Green was looking to earn its first victory of the season while Yellow was still searching for its second win of the season. Green saw reinforcements arrive this week in the league's newest player, Ken Anthony (11) who seemed to spark the Green offensive attack. Yellow seemed rushed and out of sorts this week without their emotional leader and despite strong games from Damon Wamboldt (23) and Kegan Besaw (13) couldn't hold Green, led by Lucas Lavender (20) and Kyle Lowe (18), back from securing their first victory of the season. MEN OF THE MATCH: K.Anthony, Green & K.Besaw, Yellow |
WEEK SIX: OFF TO THE RACES
GAME 01: PURPLE (4-2) vs. GREEN (1-5)
Final Score: 97 to 46/44 for Purple This week saw Purple's favours change as most of their team was at the game while Green was missing three of their stronger players. Purple pressured and didn't stop until late into the game, pressing the tired Green team into mistakes and running up the lopsided score. Green fought valiantly to stay in the game but the lid stayed on the rim. Purple saw everyone touch the score sheet with Josh Chaytor (38) leading the attack. Green countered with double figure games from Cameron Cunningham (15) and Kyle Lowe (14). Green will look to return to their winning ways next week while Purple will look to climb the standings. MEN OF THE MATCH: C.Cunningham, Green & A.Frail, Purple GAME 02: BLUE (2-4) vs. YELLOW (1-5)
Final Score: 69 to 53 for BLUE Yellow was looking to return to its winning ways with a victory over the only team they beat this season while Blue was looking to secure its second win of the season. Blue played a consistent game and exercised its size inside to dominate the glass and help play the game at their pace. While the shots didn't fall quite as often Blue, paced by Nick Chaytor (15) and Matt Boland (12), kept control of the game for the majority of the game and Yellow just wasn't able to quite find its footing, despite Austin Smith (14) and Shane Hirtle (10) hitting double figures. A hard fought game by both teams. MEN OF THE MATCH: M.Boland, Blue & S.Hirtle, Yellow GAME 03: ORANGE (6-0) vs. RED (4-2) Final Score: 72 to 68/64 for ORANGE Red was looking to avenge their early season loss but this time were missing many of their players. Red played an outstanding defensive game, stifling the Orange assault that was countered by the gritty defence of the Orange team who once again kept the game close. Neither team looked ready to give in as the game continued and as the closing minutes arrived Orange made their free throws to send the game into overtime. In overtime Orange, led by Matt Statton (20), manged to secure their sixth win of the season while Red, led by Jeremy Hirtle (22) lost for just the second time this year. MEN OF THE MATCH: M.Statton, Orange & J.Hirtle, Red |

GAME 01: ORANGE (7-0) vs. YELLOW (1-6)
Final Score: 77 to 73 for ORANGE Orange once again saw themselves in a tight, hard fought match against a determined and undermanned Yellow team. Yellow fought valiantly and every time Orange tried to push ahead they kept the score close. Matt Statton (28) and Ashton Boutcher (15) led the Orange surge while Austin Smith (27) and Whitman Hyson (20) countered for the Yellow assault. Final Score: 92/86 to 84 for RED Red was playing without four of its most veteran players and besides Monahan and Massey, the average age of the rest of the team was 14. Red used hustle, solid defense, and communication to take hold of the game and behind the leadership of Justin Massey (55) who kept the ship right with the younger players Red maintained its hold on second place despite strong games from Ken Anthony (23) and Cameron Cunningham (14). A well played game by both teams but Red held on to second place and Green will look for that illusive second win next week. Their first step was the Chaytor Challenge and getting past the Purple team. The three ball was falling for the Blue team and Purple lacked offensive punch, which provided Blue with all they needed to move onwards to victory. Tanner Hogue (23) and Colin Silver (18) led the Blue team while Purple countered with strong games from Josh Chaytor (17) and Aaron Frail (14). Blue narrowed the gap on Purple who will look to keep pace with Red next week. MEN OF THE MATCH: T.Hogue, Blue & C.Ryan, Purple |
WEEK EIGHT: THE NITTY GRITTY
GAME 01: RED (6-2) vs. BLUE (3-5)
Final Score: 68 to 48 for RED Red was primed for an upset as they were missing players and Blue was riding high from their victory over Purple last week. This game was a contrast of styles as Blue lived from behind the three-point line while Red played the boards and hard defence. In the end it was the constant pressure from the Red team that won out over the Blue Bombers, who went to the well one too many times. Chad Garber (22) and Jarod Fancy (13) paced the Red scoring attack while Blue countered with solid games from Colin Silver (12) and Matthew Boland (9). With a win in their last two games Red will clinch a spot in the championship game. MEN OF THE MATCH: M.Boland, Blue & A.Wamboldt, Red GAME 02: PURPLE (5-3) vs. YELLOW (1-7)
Final Score: 60/56 to 49/47 for PURPLE Yellow was looking to play spoiler while Purple was looking to keep pace with the Red team who had won earlier in the evening. This game went back and forth throughout the first half with both teams but a lineup switch in the second half for Purple swayed the game in their favour. Purple was led by Josh Chaytor (16) and Zachary Fancy (8) while Yellow saw Shane Hirtle (11) and Austin Smith (11) hit double figures in scoring. Purple will need to win out over their last two games to secure a top two finish while Yellow will continue to search for their second win of the season and look to play spoiler. In the end, shots fell for the Orange team and Green just once again didn't get the bounces they needed. Orange was led by Michael O'Hearon (19) and Bailey Silver (14) while Cameron Cunningham (15) and Caleb Barry (14) led the Green team in scoring. In the end Orange won and secured their spot in the finals. MEN OF THE MATCH: C.Cunningham, Green & B.Silver, Orange |

GAME 01: ORANGE (9-0) vs. PURPLE (5-4)
Final Score: 72/71 to 67/58 for ORANGE Purple was looking to keep their slim playoff hopes alive while Orange was looking to keep its perfect season alive. Purple playing with only five of its regulars played inspired basketball for most of the game, never letting Orange get ahead until the final shift. Once again the cohesive unit that is the Orange team came together and took a double-figure Purple lead and turned it into another Orange victory. The well-balanced game was spearheaded by Elijah Bond (18), and Michael O'Hearon (17) while Purple countered with Josh Chaytor (18) and Colton Ryan (13). The battle was ferocious as both teams tried to separate themselves during this heated battled. At the end of the day this game required overtime to determine a winner. Neither team saw much success in scoring the ball in the extra frame and Yellow had its shot at victory fall short as Red escaped with the narrowest of wins. Red was led by the inside-outside punch of Chad Garber (28) and Jarod Fancy (11) while Yellow had their own combo of Damon Wamboldt (19) and Cody DeLong (13).
