WEEK ONE: SHAKE IT OFF
GAME 01: BLACK (0-1) vs. RED (1-0)
Final Score: 50 to 49 for RED The opening game was exciting as it was the first time we had been on the court in two years. It was clear from the get-go that there was loads of rust that needed to be shed. Red opened up strong in the first half and built what looked to be an insurmountable lead. This game was the tale of two halves though as the cold streak that cursed Black in the first, cursed Red in the second as Black stormed back into the game behind strong defence, and 10pts from Ben Milbury. Red would hang on for the one point victory, led by 17pts from Aaron Frail. MEN OF THE MATCH: J.Wagner, Black & T.Fancy, Red GAME 02: GREEN (1-0) vs. PURPLE (0-1)
Final Score: 102 to 75 for GREEN While the first game featured tough, lock down defense, this game featured free wheeling offence. Green exploded out of the blocks, and while Purple sought to find their range, it was clear that Green wasn't going to be denied. Led By Caleb Barry (22pts), Grant Cook (22pts) and Dallas LeBlanc (20pts), Green controlled the offensive flow of the game and never allowed Purple to get back into the game. Channing Carver (27pts) and Blair Lipsett (14pts) tried to counter the Green attack but in the end it was too much and Green walked away with the comfortable win. MEN OF THE MATCH: C.Barry, Green & C.Carver, Purple GAME 03: BLUE (0-1) vs. GOLD (1-0) Final Score: 72 to 66 for GOLD The final game of the night was a back and forth affair with neither team gaining a substantial lead. Both teams played tough defence, with Gold focused on getting into the paint while Blue looked at an inside-outside attack. Evan Gibson (24pts) paced the Gold team with Zach Fancy and Caleb Reid (11pts) offering strong supporting games. Blue was carried by strong games from Damon Wamboldt (25pts) and Michael O'Hearon (20pts) but they were not enough to overcome the steady Gold assault. Gold garnered the win in the final game of the night. MEN OF THE MATCH: D.Wamboldt, Blue & E.Gibson, Gold |
WEEK TWO: STAY HEALTHY ... PLEASE!!
GAME 01: GREEN (1-1) vs. RED (2-0)
Final Score: 68 to 62 for RED Green was coming off the highest scoring game of the week while Red was bouncing off a stellar defensive game. These two teams collided and the Red defence slowed down the Green assault while their offence stepped up. Tyson Uhlman (18pts) and Tristan Fancy (14pts) controlled the game for the Red team while Dallas LeBlanc (17pts) and Caleb Barry (10pts) played solid for Green. In the end Red locked things down and walked away with the 68 to 62 victory, remaining the only undefeated team after Week 2. MEN OF THE MATCH: D.LeBlanc, Green & T.Fancy, Red GAME 02: BLACK (1-1) vs. GOLD (1-1)
Final Score: 76/62 to 70/63 for BLACK This was the old home game with veterans, Wendell Weir (8pts) and Mackenzie Carver (24pts) stepping in for both teams. Black opened an early lead behind hot shooting but Gold wasn't going to go lightly into the night as they fought back with a vengeance. The Gold comeback was paced by Evan Gibson (15pts) and Caleb Reid (13pts) while Mackenzie and Ashton Boutcher (11pts). In the end Gold stole one point after the sub points were figured out while Black picked up their first win of the season, while handing Gold their first loss of the season. MEN OF THE MATCH: M.Carver, Black & C.Reid, Gold GAME 03: BLUE (1-1) vs. PURPLE (0-2) Final Score: 58 to 53/51 for BLUE After the injury from last week, Blue was joined by Tyler Smith (10pts) for the remainder of the season. Both teams were looking for their first wins of the season and were locked head to head for most of the game. Neither team could get a huge lead as the game came down to the final shift. Damon Wamboldt (18pts) and Michael O'Hearon (16pts) paced the Blue team while Channing Carver (20pts) replied for the Purple team. In the end Blue snuck past Purple and snatched their first victory of the season while Purple will have to wait one more week for their first win. MEN OF THE MATCH: B.Brown, Blue & E.Sabean, Purple |
WEEK THREE: BACK ON THE COURT
GAME 01: GOLD (2-1) vs. PURPLE (0-3)
Final Score: 92 to 68/67 for GOLD Gold was playing on all cylinders as they faced a tough Purple team that was still searching for its first win of the season. With Gold playing almost perfect basketball, Purple couldn't their footing and quickly fell behind. With four players on the Gold hitting double figures, led by Evan Gibson (21pts) and Cleb Reid (22pts). Channning Carver (34pts) tried to counter for Purple but the shots weren't falling for them as the hole they found themselves in was too much. Gold got back in the win column while Purple will have to wait for another week. MEN OF THE MATCH: Z.Fancy, Gold & C.Carver, Purple GAME 02: BLUE (1-2) vs. RED (3-0)
Final Score: 64 to 61/54 for RED Red, led by their lightning attack, was looking to stay undefeated while Blue was looking to string together its second win in a row. This game turned out to be a game of runs with both teams building up small leads but never getting far enough ahead to be comfortable. With new player Ethan Sabean (16pts) running the outlet and Tristan Fancy (13pts) controlling the glass, Red out-duelled Chris West (14pts) and Michael O'Hearon (11pts). Red maintained its hold a top the table while Blue will look to rebound next week. MEN OF THE MATCH: J.Quick, Blue & E.Sabean, Red GAME 03: BLACK (1-2) vs. GREEN (2-1) Final Score: 69 to 65/64 for GREEN Black started this game out hot, hitting all their shots while Green steadily grew stronger throughout the game. As the second half started both teams were locked in a battle for the win with neither giving anything to other team easy. With Caleb Barry (15pts) and Grant Cook (13pts) leading the Green attack they pulled ahead of the Black team led by Allan Carver (14pts) and Whitman Hyson (12pts) and as they hit some clutch free throws down the stretch they managed to get their second win of the season, while Black will search for their second win next week. MEN OF THE MATCH: W.Hyson, Black & G.Cook, Green |
WEEK FOUR: TEMPERS GETTING HOT
GAME 01: BLACK (2-2) vs. BLUE (1-3)
Final Score: 83 to 79 for BLACK (OT) The opening game of the night was an incredible battle between two teams looking for big wins. Back and forth they battled, the largest lead being held by Black heading into the final shift. Blue, led by Michael O'Hearon (26pts) and Damon Wamboldt (13pts), made up the difference and with Black being led by Cody DeLong (19pts) and Ashton Boutcher (11pts) the end of the game was a frantic finish. Blue had their shot but it didn't go and the game went into overtime. Black used a strong opening shift to build their lead and Blue couldn't make up the points in the end as Black won their second game of the season. Blue did steal one point for the overtime game. MEN OF THE MATCH: C.DeLong, Black & M.O'Hearon, Blue GAME 02: GOLD (2-2) vs. GREEN (3-1)
Final Score: 73 to 62 for GREEN After an exciting opening match of the night two of the top contenders took the court as the jockeyed for a spot at the top of the table. This was a heated match as neither team wanted to give an inch in this fast paced match. Gold was having problems getting the ball to fall and late in the second half Green made a run that helped them create a comfortable distance despite the testiness of the match. Led by Caleb Barry (17pts) and Shane Slauenwhite (8pts) Green pulled ahead of the Austin Smith (15pts) and Evan Gibson (13pts) and didn't let go until the of the game. Both teams are still top contenders in the league as we move towards the halfway point. MEN OF THE MATCH: A.Smith, Gold & S.Slauenwhite, Green GAME 03: PURPLE (0-4) vs. RED (4-0) Final Score: 72/64 to 53/50 for RED Red continues to be the feel good story of the season as they pushed their winning streak to four games. Both teams were missing huge parts of their roster and so subs would play a huge part in this game. To begin with Purple held the game close but as they always do Red started to control the glass and run the ball down the throats of Purple. Jonathan Oickle (14pts) and Ethan Sabean (14pts) led the Red assault while Channing Carver (21pts) and Jack Slauenwhite countered for the Purple team. Red managed to score yet another victory while Purple will have to wait another week to get their first points of the season. MEN OF THE MATCH: J.Slauenwhite, Purple & J.Oickle, Red |
WEEK FIVE: MEET ME IN THE MIDDLE
GAME 01: GOLD (2-3) vs. RED (5-0)
Final Score: 73/71 to 70/61 for RED Gold was looking to rebound after a tough loss last week but was looking to do so without two of their top players. Red was looking to continue their winning ways and stay undefeated through the first half of the season. Early on Red controlled the tempo of the game and backed by an outstanding shooting night from Keiran Cole (21pts) they opened up an early lead. With a balanced attack led by MacKenzie Carver (15pts) and Austin Smith (12pts), Gold clawed their way back into the matchup, making the game close don the stretch. Tristan Fancy (16pts) helped close out the game, blocking shots and hitting key free throws to help Red secure their fifth victory of the season and head into the second half of the season as the only undefeated team. MEN OF THE MATCH: J.Oickle, Gold & K.Cole, Red GAME 02: BLUE (2-3) vs. GREEN (3-2)
